Lasers, LEDs and other light sources are transforming the way medicine is carried out. New, innovative methods of treatment, as well as exciting, novel non-invasive diagnostic procedures are undergoing development. This conference will bring together some of the world’s foremost talented and experienced clinicians and scientists. Even more important, there will be a multitude of laser users at all stages of their career who just want to understand some of the mysteries of the subject and go back and do better.
This conference builds on the success of the joint meeting of the Spanish and British Medical Laser Associations held under the auspices of the European Laser Association in Tarragona in 2010. It is our opportunity as hosts to ensure that you have a warm welcome and an enriching experience during your few days at the conference. During 2012, London will experience some major occasions, including the Olympics, but our vision is that the one event that will eclipse them all will be Laser Europe 2012.
There really is something for everyone. There will be numerous scientific sessions on a variety of topics, such as aesthetic laser surgery, photodynamic therapy, and optical diagnostics. In addition, several courses have been organised aimed at those who may be relative newcomers or those would like to have their knowledge refreshed. It is an exciting and varied programme. On behalf the British Medical Laser Association, I extend a warm welcome and hope that you enjoy your time with us at Laser Europe 2012.

Conference Awards
BMLA Awards for Attendance
There are a number of awards supported by the BMLA to attend this conference. This includes a registration fee waiver (+ £300 towards travel if you live outside of the M25 radius of London).

Oral Presentation Awards
There are 10 awards of £100 each for the best oral presentations during the conference.
The Vasant Oswal Oration
The Vasant Oswal Oration for 2012 has been awarded to Steven M. Zeitels, MD, FACS. Steven Zeitels is Eugene B. Casey Professor of Laryngeal Surgery: Harvard Medical School and Director of Center for Laryngeal Surgery and Voice Rehabilitation at Massachusetts General Hospital, USA. He is well known for his pioneering work utilizing angiolytic lasers for minimally invasive surgical techniques to treat benign and malignant disease and for creating laryngeal laser surgery in office-based settings under topical anaesthesia. His presentation will serve as model for establishing minimally invasive laser techniques in other disciplines. Steven will deliver The Oration during Laser Europe 2012 Conference in London, UK on 10-12 May, 2012.
